The Heart Behind Empowering Futures

Empowering Futures was created from a place of love, loss, and deep purpose.

The provision was founded following the passing of Rhean’s son, Rome, whose short life inspired a lifelong commitment to making a meaningful difference for young people and families. Rhean later also lost Rome’s brother, Reign. These profound losses shaped not only the organisation, but the soul of everything Empowering Futures stands for.

Empowering Futures was never just a business idea.

It was born from love, loss, and an unshakeable belief that every young person deserves the chance to grow, heal, and thrive.

Our first centre, now based in Coventry, was created in memory of Rome.

Rome’s life, though short, was filled with warmth, curiosity, and a light that touched everyone around him. When Rome passed, a promise was made that his name would live on through purpose. That promise became Empowering Futures.

Every child who walks through our doors carries their own story, their own struggles, and their own potential. We believe that each young person who enters our provision receives a little piece of Rome’s light — and when they move on, they take that light with them into the world. In this way, Rome continues to live on through every success, every breakthrough, and every future changed.

As Empowering Futures grew, so did our mission.

Our second centre in Birmingham is dedicated to Reign.

Reign represents strength, resilience, and legacy. His name symbolises continuation — a presence that does not end, but transforms.

This centre is more than bricks and mortar. It stands as a living dedication to Reign’s spirit. It embodies the journey from grief to growth, from pain to purpose.

Reign is the reason we evolve.

Evolve is the space where that evolution happens.

Because of Reign, our work is deeper.
Because of Reign, our compassion is stronger.

Because of Reign, we never forget why we do this.

Together, Rome and Reign are woven into the very foundations of Empowering Futures.

One represents light.
One represents legacy.
Both represent love.

Each child carries their own light, and it is their light — alongside Rome’s and Reign’s — that continues to guide Empowering Futures in everything it does, promoting hope, resilience, compassion, and belief in every learner’s potential.

Empowering Futures exists because two little boys changed everything.

And through every child we empower, their light continues to shine.
